Rooflight Systems from Howells Patent Glazing

With its rooflight systems, Howells Patent Glazing (Howells) offers a creative and high-performance roofing solution for modern and traditional interiors.Creating a feeling of space, with more natural light, its rooflights have been a popular choice with architects since 1973.

Independently tested for weathertightness (BS 6375 Part 1) and Resistance to snow and permanent load (EN 14351), Howells’ aluminium rooflights are thermally broken for superior thermal performance.Utilising the latest in product technology, the rooflights can achieve a U-value of just 0.7 W/m²K.

The rooflights are made to order and can be designed with pitches ranging from 15 – 45 degrees, or 30 degrees, as standard.Depending on the system specified, the rooflight can accommodate a variety of glazed products, from 24mm double glazed units to 50mm triple glazed units.Supply only or supply and fit options are available.

All the rooflight systems are designed and manufactured by Howells, for added peace of mind and flexibility.Architects can choose from different internal and external profile finishes including square, ornate and raked features. Options extend to fixed (unvented) rooflights to electronic or wind gearing opening lights, trickleventilation or smoke ventilation.

For added impact, the aluminium rooflights can be powder coated in any standard RAL colour, including dual colours (one colour inside, another out).

When something special is required, Howells can add vertical windows to create a traditional lantern rooflight. The vertical window height is variable and can allow for top-hung opening vents.Pyramid and octagon rooflights are also available.

The Howells rooflight system can be used on commercial projects. It has proven performance on modern builds and historical restoration, including schools, business centres, nursing homes, airports, shopping centres, public buildings and those of national historical significance.

Working closely with architects and specifiers, Howells’ experienced design and technical teams can provide detailed CAD drawings and 3D models for the most intricate of projects.

For more than 45 years, Howells has designed and manufactured a wide range of glazing products from its factory in Cradley Heath, Birmingham, including patent glazing bars, north lights, roof lights, canopies and vents.Glass options include Pilkington’s Suncool 40/60, OptifloatTM Opal and patterned glass.

The company has achieved ISO 9001 certification and is Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS) verified.
