Mira Showers Announces Involvement with the Energy House 2.0 Project

Mira Showers are pleased to announce our involvement with the Energy House 2.0 project, in conjunction with the University of Salford and Bellway Homes. This unique project, which is the largest test and research facility of its type, will play a key role in accelerating the development of low carbon and net zero housing in the UK.

Mira has spent the last 100 years creating innovative, solution led products to meet the needs of our specification customers. These solutions demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and with an ever-growing portfolio of products that are better for the environment, and innovative technologies that improve a home’s efficiency, which help safeguard our future.

Mira has submitted several products to the Energy House 2.0 project, which include existing technologies but also those that are in development. Existing products include the Mira HeatCapture™, an innovative energy saving system that utilises the heat from wastewater leaving the bathroom to increase the efficiency of a domestic heating system, improving the efficiency of new homes. Mira HeatCapture™ has been designed to provide developers the opportunity to offer a sustainable and efficient wastewater heat recovery system (WWHRS) across their developments.

Furthermore, with the UK Green Building Council estimating that 80% of the 2050 building stock has already been built, it is pivotal that we develop technologies and products that improve the efficiency of existing housing stock through retro fit programmes. Some of these will be incorporated and tested as part of the Energy House 2.0 project.

The build and commissioning of Energy House 2.0 was completed in February 2022 and products are currently being installed. The testing and research programmes will continue until Spring 2023, with the results helping to inform the development of new, pioneering Mira technologies.
