Marmox Showerlay – updated system for faster, more secure wetroom installations

Marmox Showerlay is a pre-formed, fully bonded wetroom floor system designed to simplify the creation of level-access showers and tiled wetroom floors. Built around a lightweight extruded polystyrene core with a reinforced cement polymer coating, it delivers a stable, waterproof base that is easy to handle and install across both new build and refurbishment projects.

The latest Showerlay range introduces a number of practical upgrades aimed at improving installation speed and detailing. Each board now includes a factory-applied waterproof fleece layer bonded to the top surface. This fleece overhangs the edges by 100mm, allowing installers to integrate a more secure seal at wall junctions and surrounding floor joints. This additional margin helps create a continuous waterproof barrier when used in conjunction with compatible sealing systems.

A redesigned easy-access drain is also now incorporated into the system, supporting quicker connection and improved serviceability while maintaining a clean, tiled finish at floor level. In addition, the range is now available in new size options, offering greater flexibility for different bathroom layouts and project requirements.

One of the key installation advantages of the Showerlay system is its adaptability on site. The tray itself can be trimmed by up to 100mm on any side without affecting the pre-formed falls to the waste outlet. This allows installers to fine-tune dimensions around walls, partitions and existing structural constraints without compromising drainage performance.

The pre-formed falls remove the need for traditional slope-building methods, helping reduce installation time and ensuring consistent drainage geometry. Combined with its lightweight construction, Showerlay is particularly suitable for upper floors or areas where access and load handling are restricted.

Despite its low weight, the system provides high compressive strength and is suitable for ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles. It is also compatible with underfloor heating, supporting efficient heat transfer through the tiled surface.
