Lever Lock Fire Door Fittings

With our extensive product selection, we take pride in providing most of your project requirements under one roof – and fire door fittings are no exception. Any fitting needed to make the fire door safe and compliant, can be provided by us. The checklist below details all products required for a fire door in a lever lock application, ideal for commercial use.

Products

  • Hinges

Depending on the door height, a minimum of 3 hinges would be required to securely connect a door to the door frame. Hafele’s Stainless Steel Butt Hinges, which are ideal for internal application, have an ANSI hole pattern and two high-quality ball bearing race joints. These hinges are CE marked and compliant with BS EN 1935.

  • Intumescent Hinge pads

Hinge pads need to be fitted into the door cut outs before the hinges. Hinge pads from Häfele are fire rated for 30 and 60 minutes and are moisture, humidity or pollution resistant. They are compliant with BS 476 part 22 and tested in accordance with BS EN 1634-1.

  • Door Closer

All fire doors need to be fitted with a door closer when they are not FDKL (Fire Door Keep Locked) to keep the doors shut and prevent a fire from spreading. Our door closers for fire doors are CE marked and tested to EN 1154 – complying to the Construction Product Regulation. We offer door closers in aluminium, polished brass, stainless steel and silver coloured lacquer finishes. You can view the products here.

  • Mortice Lock

If the door requires locking, the Mortice Sash Lock from our own-house brand - Startec is certified in compliance with EN 12209:2003 and comes with a 10-year guarantee. It is available in a square or radius forend.

  • Intumescent Fire Protection Kit for Lock Mortice

A fire protection kit expands to protect the lock when exposed to hot temperatures. It is recommended to use the kit that provides fire resistance for your door type. Our kits are available for resistance up to 30 and 60 minutes. View the products here.

  • Lever Handle

To make door exits as accessible as possible, the sash lock would need to be operated with a lever handle. Häfele’s Lever Handle sets, offering a 10-year guarantee are available in polished or satin finish, come in different versions and can be used for two door thicknesses. They are compliant with BS EN 1906 and fire rated for 30 or 60 minutes.

  • Euro Profile Cylinder

A euro profile cylinder would be needed to be operated with a dead bolt. Depending on the selection, you can have a key both sides, or a key & turn. We stock a large range of cylinders, and can also provide a master key suite if required. You can view the cylinder here.

  • Fire Door Keep Shut Sign

A fire door would require two “Fire Door Keep Shut” signs, one on either side of the door, to ensure that everyone who enters or exits the door is aware that they must shut it behind them. To increase visibility, these signs should be positioned above eye level. Häfele’s ‘Keep Shut’ Signs are available in a range of materials, which you can view here. This signage conforms to BS 5499 pt.5:2002.

The intumescent strips are normally supplied with by the door & frame manufacture, however should you require these items please view them here.

If you have any questions about fire door fittings, speak to our experts in the 360 Projects Team who are Dip FD qualified with diplomas from the Fire Door Inspection Scheme. We can also help correctly specify any additional hardware, such as door stops, protection plates, finger protection etc.

When it comes to fire doors, remember the advice from the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers: Hang it, Close it, Lock it, Furnish it, Protect it
