Dedicated to glass mineral wool insulation for rainscreen cladding – and more!

URSA is well-known throughout Europe for its expertise in glass mineral wool insulation, using 70 years of dedication to develop a wide range of insulation products.

In the UK, the company is dedicated to insulation for rainscreen cladding systems, designed to protect buildings whilst offering design flexibility. In fact, URSA WALLTEC BLACK 32 and URSAPAN BLACK are the ONLY glass mineral wool insulation products approved by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) for use as sheathing insulation in rainscreen cladding façade systems – and little wonder.

Both products have a 20-year track record of success in Europe, are manufactured using up to 73% recycled glass (one reason they have a generic BRE Green Guide rating of A+), and are deemed non-combustible with a Euroclass A1 fire classification (the highest possible rating) when tested to EN 13501-1:2018 Reaction to Fire. They both also feature a black glass fibre tissue facing on one side as standard, allowing them to be used behind open joint cladding without being visible.

Recently, URSA WALLTEC BLACK 32 and URSAPAN BLACK were awarded the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) assessment mark too – which means specifiers, system designers and specialist installers can rely on the information provided in marketing and literature, knowing it conforms to CCPI’s strict standards.

URSA is also dedicated to helping developers get the best from its products – as seen in the Silk District scheme in Whitechapel, London. Comprising of three residential blocks around a piazza, the project involved 25,000m² of URSA’s products including URSA WALLTEC BLACK 32. URSA worked with developers Mount Anvil, providing advice and guidance on materials and compliance, as well as thermal models, U-value calculations and associated condensation risk analysis. The company were even involved in the design of the brick-clad rainscreen system.
