Smart radiators heat houseboats around the world
Houseboats might offer reduced living space compared to a standard house, but they are certainly not inferior in terms of comfort, especially La Mare’s houseboats. These self-sufficient houses are equipped with Myson’s Rio Compact Plus smart electric radiators, which can be controlled with the Unisenza Plus app for maximum customised comfort.
Floating on rivers and canals, or in coastal harbours, houseboats can be found all over the world. The freedom they provide is appealing to an increasing number of people.
Modern living
La Mare has been producing houseboats for over 15 years. What started as a hobby has since grown into a successful business that today produces over 100 houseboats annually. With models ranging from 15m2 to 49.5m2, there’s a boat for every taste and budget.
For La Mare it is important that every boat is eco-friendly. Not only are they constructed in a sustainable way, but the boats are also designed to be self-sufficient and energy efficient. They are equipped with photovoltaic panels on the roof and/or deck, which provides energy for appliances as well as the fully electric heating system. Excess energy can be stored in the integrated 4.8 kWh lithium-ion batteries and used later.
Smart energy-efficient radiators
When La Mare discovered Myson’s oil-filled Rio Plus electric radiators, and the possibility to connect and control them via the Unisenza Plus app, it fit perfectly with their concept of energy-efficient and self-sufficient homes.
Rio Compact Plus radiators are installed in the bedrooms and the living room, where they serve as the main source of heating. These oil-filled radiators convert every watt of electricity into heat, and they distribute the heat rapidly and evenly so that rooms quickly reach the desired temperature.
Rio Plus radiators are equipped with a modern thermostat with special regulators and PI-control that adjusts to the outdoor conditions.
Flexible control
Rio Plus radiators have an integrated thermostat which allows for intuitive control, but there is also the possibility of remote control. Each radiator can be connected to the Unisenza Plus gateway and then controlled via the Unisenza Plus app. That way the complete heating system can be controlled from anywhere in the world.
“This is especially valuable for the type of properties we create”, says Tomasz Drygalski from the La Mare plumbing department. “Our boats are often used for short-term rental so, by using the Unisenza Plus system, the owner can easily control the heating system remotely, or grant access to the guests to control. And, when planning to stay on the houseboat themselves, they can remotely switch on the heating so that rooms have a pleasant temperature by the time they arrive.”
Rio Plus radiators are also available with a sleek flat front panel or profiled front panel.
