An open plan modern home in Kuwait with internal lightwell

Wall House, Kuwait

A modern house design in Kuwait uses slim framed glazing and sliding doors to create a central internal courtyard and lightwell.

The slim sliding doors surround a central courtyard and create a lightwell to the middle of the property. The glass doors can then slide open to gain access to the internal garden. This has the added benefit of providing light to the walkways and hallways of the home.

Upper living areas are gifted the same access to natural light by a balcony that runs around the courtyard. These areas use the same slim sliding glass doors with ultra slim 20mm sightlines and silver metal frames.

Ana Maria, sales at IQ Glass says "designers are often looking for new ways to bring light into a design. Courtyards are not a new way to do so but are a clever approach. I like the way these spaces integrated the outside and garden directly into the heart of a home."

Valerio Vigna, contract manager at IQ explains, "when working on projects that have limitations on the external faŠ·ade glazing, internal courtyards are a great way to create natural light. Inner city properties where large elevations of external glazing would damage the privacy of the home can utilise these well."

These specialist glazing elements are available from IQ who work on high end residential projects all over the UK and overseas.
